Our Multicultural fortnight has been a real celebration of the many different cultures, traditions and languages spoken by our wonderfully diverse community at The Lawns.  To kick off the event Lucas's mummy came in and shared the story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" in Portuguese. The children are familiar with this story so it was interesting for them to hear what it sounded like to be read in a language other than English. Lucas was rightfully proud to demonstrate his bilingualism.  One of our parents is Iranian and brought in some Persian rugs for the children to see and touch. Her daughter helped her to demonstrate how the rugs are woven on a special loom. As is tradition in Iran they shared dried fruit with everyone as a welcoming gesture.  Thank you to all of our parents and grandparents for helping us to share other cultures in such a meaningful way for the children.
