At the moment we're working towards one of our curriculum goals involving making things from woodwork. Last month the children practised hammering golf tees in to marrows and pumpkins,now they've progressed to using real nails and wood. The levels of concentration are easy to see as the children learn to handle the tools and materials independently to achieve their own outcomes. Bottle tops are the ideal starting point when beginning to join materials and the children persevere with this, quite rightly taking great pride in their achievements.
